Gretchen Bowker educates wide audience about nutraceuticals
Indianapolis, Ind: Aug 18, 2009: Gretchen Bowker of Safis Solutions, LLC and Dr. R Keith Randolph of Nutrilite spoke to a wide audience yesterday about the increasing regulatory involvement in the nutraceutical industry.
Nutraceuticals are products containing or enriched in food extracts that are claimed to have a health benefit. Also known as dietary supplements, they have come to forefront of attention in the life science industry because of increases both in the number of products and usage by the public. These products are unique in that the FDA does not classify them as food or drugs. Gretchen Bowker explained that “there are specific federal regulations that need to be met to avoid a visit from FDA or product recall. The key is a thorough understanding of what you can claim about your product.” She projects that federal oversight of and the requirement for dietary supplements will continue to increase.
This presentation was broadcasted to Barnes & Thronburg, LLC offices across the state of Indiana and to Chicago, Grand Rapids, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, and Atlanta.
