CEO Participates in Growth Program

Ping Poulsen Participates in Minority Business Growth Program

Ping Poulsen was one of 36 CEOs selected to attend the recent "Growing the Minority Business to Scale" program  at Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business. This program is focused on growth as a way for high-potential companies to achieve their strategic objectives, as well as how to implement an effective growth strategy. This intense six day program includes classroom learning as well as exercises to put into practice the concepts presented. There was lots of competition among the participants, making the program fun as well as educational.

Competition is very familiar to Ms Poulsen. As an Indiana State Champion in table tennis, she competes on a regular basis. ‘Competition is not just against your opponent, but against yourself, trying to improve and challenge on your best score. In business you compete against yourself by continually striving to improve the service provided to your clients.’ states Poulsen.

Poulsen indicated that there were several benefits to participating in the program. Professors with real- world experience led the classes. Participants are encouraged to think about growth through innovation as well as growth through retention and expansion of current clients. Participation in the programs grants access to the Alumni Association which has over 4000 executives as members. The program emphasizes a mentoring approach, encouraging participants to mentor another minority business and share the knowledge gained by attending the program. This approach gives the program participants the opportunity to give back to their clients by helping other businesses provide better client services. ‘It stresses high performance for everyone and raises the bar for everyone.’ says Ms Poulsen.

Poulsen states she would recommend this program to others. In order to attend the program, one must complete the ‘High Performance Minority Business’ program and have 5-10 years experience as a CEO. For more information on Tuck's Executive programs, click here.
